What is white label cosmetics?

White label cosmetics means selecting from a manufacturer’s existing, proven product range and selling those products under your own brand name and packaging. The formula is already developed, tested and compliant – your job is to choose the products that fit your brand, design the packaging and bring them to market.

It is the fastest and most cost-effective route into colour cosmetics. Because the formulation work is already done, you avoid lengthy development timelines and can typically get to market within your packaging lead time – usually eight to twelve weeks once designs are approved.

White label vs private label - what is the difference?

Both routes use existing, tested formulations rather than starting from scratch. The key differences are:

  • White label: you choose from an existing product portfolio with limited customisation. Faster to market, lower development cost, formula is not exclusive to you.
  • Private label: more customisation available – shade selection, finish adjustments, a closer working relationship throughout. The end product feels more distinctly yours.

If you are launching quickly or testing a new category, white label is usually the right starting point. If you have a clear brand vision and want products that are distinctly yours, private label is the better long-term route.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for white label cosmetics?

Most white label orders start from 1,000 units per product or per shade. We will confirm the exact MOQ once we have reviewed your enquiry.

Because the formulation work is already complete, your lead time is largely driven by packaging. Once your packaging is approved and delivered to us, we can turn products around relatively quickly. Custom packaging typically takes eight to twelve weeks from design approval, so planning ahead matters.

White label products are primarily sold as-is from our existing shade portfolio. Some adjustments may be possible depending on the product – we will confirm what is achievable when we review your brief. For a fully bespoke shade story, private label is the right route.

Yes. All white label products have been through stability testing and safety assessment, and come with full UK regulatory compliance documentation – CPSR, PIF and CPNP notification support.

No. White label formulations are available to multiple brands – the distinction from private label is that with white label, you are not commissioning an exclusive formula. Where exclusivity matters, private label is the right route.

Our core strength is colour cosmetics and hybrid beauty products – products that sit at the crossover between makeup and skincare. We review other product types on a case-by-case basis.

They are often used interchangeably. Own-brand typically refers to the finished product bearing your brand name. White label is the manufacturing route used to create it – existing, tested formulations badged under your brand. Both describe the same process.
